Food safety is a crucial part of the entire food industry. Consumers, retailers, food service providers, and government agencies now demand food safety programs that did not exist in our industry a generation ago. A comprehensive food safety program begins before crops are even planted and extends through the entire food supply chain to its final destination—the consumer. To achieve a complete and traceable food safety system, all elements of the supply chain, including growing, harvesting, packing, and shipping, must have a structured food safety program in place.
At Chill C Farms, ensuring that our products are both safe and traceable requires the implementation and maintenance of a rigorous food safety program. For the packing and handling aspects of our supply chain, all Chill C Farms packers must adhere to and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). A strong GMP program is one that is consistently implemented, updated, and maintained year after year, verified through regular self-audits and third-party inspections.
Food safety is not a static process it is dynamic by nature. To fully integrate food safety into our company culture, it is a key topic at every meeting and upheld by the actions of every employee, including management. It is essential that food safety protocols are well understood and easily executed by all team members. Effective food safety training is paramount to achieving this goal, which is why our program includes not only production-related measures but also employee education and comprehensive training materials.
